What’s New with Slackbot Skills? Sharing AI Workflows Across Organizations

Xem nhanh

An AI workflow that helps a Sales team review its pipeline could be equally useful to other teams. But how can they share that workflow without rebuilding it from scratch?

On October 8, 2026, Slack announced Shareable Skills, allowing users to share saved AI workflows across organizations through external links. Recipients can copy, customize, and use these workflows in their own Slackbot, making it easier to adopt existing processes without starting over.

What Are Slackbot Skills?

Slackbot Skills are reusable AI workflows designed to handle specific tasks. Users describe what needs to be done, how the task should be performed, and the expected outcome. The instructions can then be saved as a skill for future use.

For example, a Sales team can create a workflow to identify deals that may be at risk. Instead of repeating the same request every week, team members can run the saved skill and let Slackbot follow the established process.

Some workflows can also draw information from Slack channels, use context from previous work, or run on a schedule. This makes them particularly useful for recurring tasks that follow a consistent process.

What’s New with Shareable Skills?

The latest update makes it possible to share a skill with users outside an organization. The process takes just three steps: open the skill, click the Share icon, select Create external link, and send the link to the recipient.

Anyone with access to Slackbot can open the link, make a copy, and save the workflow for their own use, provided their organization’s settings allow it.

Creators can also revoke sharing links when needed. However, revoking a link does not remove copies that recipients have already saved.

Importantly, sharing a skill does not automatically grant access to company data. Recipients do not gain access to the original organization’s Slack channels or internal systems simply by copying a workflow. Data access remains subject to their own permissions and workspace configuration.

Practical Use Cases Across Business Teams

Alongside the sharing update, Slack introduced the AI Agent Skill Repository, a collection of ready-to-use workflows contributed by people across Salesforce. Users can select Add this skill to make a copy and save it to their Slackbot.

The repository includes examples for Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Support, and other business functions.

Sales: Prioritizing Deals That Need Attention

Top 10 Deal Review Skill identifies the 10 open deals requiring attention based on deal size, stage-related risk, and days since the last activity.

Sales teams can use these insights to prioritize follow-ups and focus on opportunities that may need immediate action.

Marketing: Improving Landing Page Content

Form Page Optimizer Skill reviews the content of a landing page or form and recommends improvements to messaging and user experience.

Marketing teams can use these suggestions to identify areas for refinement before making changes to their pages.

Support: Monitoring Ongoing Incidents

Incident Status Scanner Skill identifies incidents marked In Progress in a Slack channel, providing their status, impact, and links to relevant updates.

This gives support teams a clearer view of ongoing issues without having to search through individual conversations.

These examples show how reusable workflows can support everyday business activities, particularly tasks involving information gathering, review, and ongoing monitoring.

Managing and Controlling Skills Across an Organization

Slack provides administrators with separate controls for sharing workflows externally and adding those created by other organizations.

The two permissions are:

  • Share skills with other organisations: Controls whether members can share their skills outside the organization.
  • Add skills from other organisations: Controls whether members can add externally shared skills.

Slack also provides a Skill Manager role for designated members responsible for managing workflows.

Depending on their subscription plan and permissions, organizations can monitor usage, assign skills to specific groups, and make approved workflows available through the Skill Catalogue.

Unlike the publicly available AI Agent Skill Repository, the Skill Catalogue is designed to help employees discover and use workflows within their organization.

When an administrator updates a skill assigned to a group, the updated version becomes available to those users. Copies previously shared with other organizations do not automatically synchronize with the original.

Management capabilities and access to Slackbot may vary by subscription plan, user role, and organizational policies.

How Should Businesses Get Started?

For companies already using Slack, recurring activities such as preparing reports, reviewing sales pipelines, organizing meeting information, and tracking project updates are practical areas to explore.

Rather than introducing multiple workflows at once, businesses can start with a single process that has clearly defined inputs, instructions, and expected outcomes.

Testing with a small team helps assess the accuracy of the results, data access permissions, and compatibility with existing ways of working.

Once the process proves useful, it can be refined and shared with other teams facing similar requirements. This approach also helps identify potential issues before a wider rollout.

The goal is to focus on workflows that solve real business needs rather than simply increasing the number of AI-powered processes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Slackbot Skills Be Shared Across Organizations?

Yes. Users can create external links to share their saved workflows. Recipients need access to Slackbot, and their organization’s policies must allow externally shared skills.

Does Sharing a Skill Also Share Company Data?

No. Copying a workflow does not automatically grant access to the original organization’s data, Slack channels, or internal systems.

Can Administrators Control Skill Sharing?

Yes. Administrators can manage permissions for sharing and receiving workflows. Additional management capabilities depend on the organization’s subscription plan and assigned roles.

Conclusion

Shareable Skills make it easier for teams to reuse AI workflows developed by others. For businesses, this can reduce repetitive setup work and help employees adopt processes that fit their day-to-day responsibilities.
